Religious Education

Religious Education is central to the life of the school. In our  Section 48 RE Inspection March 2018 the school was graded outstanding.

We follow the National Programme “The Way, The Truth and The Life” which covers nine topics each year. The programme is used from Reception to Year 6.
Each day collective worship takes place in class with prayers and time for reflection. Children are invited through the Parishes to receive the Sacraments of Forgiveness and Holy Communion in Year 3. The children are supported in school through ongoing work in the RE programme.
The whole school community meets for assembly on Monday and Friday.  Juniors and Infants have class Masses to which families are invited. We attend Mass regularly at St Werburgh’s and St Columba’s Parish Churches both on Sundays and on special school days through the year.  The children attend Mass in the parish churches.
Fr Paul and Fr Jonathan, our Parish Priests, comes to school regularly to talk to the children and share in our assemblies. They provide the children with opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Forgiveness during Lent and Advent and at other times during the year on request.

Each week we send home a Thought for the Week linked to Sunday's gospel. You can see some of the first ones for this term below.
